Porsche 911 Turbo S’s are quick. In fact, they’re some of the quickest sportscars in the world, hitting 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds. For perspective, the 1,500 horsepower, all-wheel drive Bugatti Chiron hypercar hits 60 mph in just 2.4 seconds.

Yet, there are those that believe there’s room for improvement and won’t stop until they warp space and time. Enter the engineers at Esmotor, a Turkish crew that builds some of EKanoo Racing’s fastest cars, and a 991.1 generation 911 Turbo S.

According to the builders, they’re getting the 911 Turbo S to deliver 1,073 horsepower and 1,028 lb-ft of torque, at the car’s wheels. They estimate at the crank their 911 Turbo S is close to 1,200 horsepower. And what do you do with a 1,200 horsepower 911 Turbo S? You go drag racing and beat a record.

In a post, EKanoo Racing stated, “It’s been a while since we hit the drag strip and what a way to start off the new drag season!” The excitement is because the 1,200 horsepower 911 Turbo S recorded an 8.99 second quarter mile pass and trapped at 160.7 mph.

That is a world record, not only for the 991.1 generation 911, but also because it’s the first PDK-equipped car to run under 9-seconds in the quarter mile.

And it seems as if EKanoo Racing can still improve. From the video, it doesn’t appear as if the 911 Turbo S launches as hard as it can, nor does it appear too far from stock (except for the motor), and the weather at the track was quite warm during the pass.

With some weight savings, grippier tires, cooler temperatures, and a harder launch, EKanoo Racing could very well improve on the car’s ET and beat its own world record.
