Happy 48th Elon! It’s Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s birthday today, and what better way to celebrate than with a gallery of photos of the man himself hamming it up for us during a recent interview we conducted with him.
It’s been a whirlwind year for Musk, filled with good and, er, some not so good news. The Tesla Model 3, which we’ve tested several times now against the best midsize sedans the world has to offer, has been rolling off the assembly line in Fremont, California. Musk spent lots of long nights personally seeing to it that the Model 3 made it out to the hundreds of thousands of customers who had signed up for one.
We also just put Tesla’s self-driving technology to the test. Musk has been pushing hard in his bid to have the driver become a passenger sooner than the world may be ready. But in some ways that’s the genius of Musk, a man who through his success with Tesla has dragged an entire industry kicking and screaming into the all-electric powered vehicle space. He has repeatedly stressed his belief that EVs will help save the world from ecological ruin.
And through his SpaceX company, Musk is pushing forward the dream of humankind permanently moving off of the planet and into the stars.
But like any businessman, Musk is also in it to be successful, and to do that, he needs to sell cars, and a lot of them. He’s made a lot of promises, some reached, some not. No matter what you think of him, he’s done a hell of a lot in his 48 years. Here’s to you Elon. Everyone raise your glass and toast a man who will continue to push boundaries and act as a pied piper for the wonders of the future.
