BMW announced it will debut a new production car at the annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance next month. The automaker isn’t releasing the identity of the car just yet, but we think it’s the new Z4.
“Suffice it to say that this new model will certainly be an emotional addition to the BMW range,” BMW said in a press release about the upcoming world debut.
We heard that the Z4 was destined to debut sometime this summer, and it certainly fits the bill of an “emotional” car. It’s also telling that the concept Z4 debuted a year ago during Monterey Car Week, the week-long event that culminates with the big day at Pebble Beach. As chronicled in our review last month, we had the chance to drive a prototype Z4 that’s near production-ready, so the timing seems right to debut the final version. The Z4 is closely related to the new Toyota Supra, which debuted in prototype form at Goodwood but won’t launch until next year.
Pebble Beach will also hold the North American debuts of the BMW M850i coupe and the BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe. BMW is destined to bring the 8 Series coupe back to the U.S. after a 20-year hiatus.
The mystery BMW will debut August 23 at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance Reviewing Stand at The Lodge at Pebble Beach Golf Course.
