Last summer, Chevrolet introduced the Tahoe Custom Edition, a utility-focused special edition with a light options list and no rear seat. It was billed as a great choice for buyers who needed the size and towing capability of a full-size SUV but didn’t want to pay for a lot of premium features. Today, Chevrolet announced a new version with an added dose of style: the Tahoe Custom Midnight Edition.

Painted black and based on the entry-level Tahoe LS, the Custom Midnight Edition gets 18-inch black wheels, all-terrain tires, a black grille, rugged-looking running boards, and blacked-out badging. Like before, the third-row seat has been removed, giving owners 54 cubic feet of cargo room behind the second row.

“The introduction of the Tahoe Custom last year was well-received by our customers who were looking for the capability of a full-size SUV with the added utility of increased rear cargo space,” said Sandor Piszar, Chevrolet’s head of truck marketing, in a statement. “The Tahoe Custom Midnight takes the capability and value of the Custom trim and adds rugged, all-black features found on our popular Midnight Editions.”

Rear-wheel drive and a 355-hp V-8 come standard, but four-wheel drive can also be ordered. It also includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, remote start, lane keep assist, and automatic emergency braking.

Look for the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe Custom Midnight Edition to go on sale this spring with a starting price of $47,290.
