Although it’s not debuting for another few weeks, the BMW X2 has been teased in its natural habitat, the urban jungle. Unlike most teasers, which only give a glimpse of certain parts of the car, BMW has chosen to show the car in camouflage; however, unlike most prototypes, this one’s got some splashes of yellow and orange on it, which surely must’ve caused a lot of heads to turn.

Essentially a production version of the X2 Concept revealed at the 2016 Paris auto show, the production BMW X2 doesn’t stray much from the show car’s design and features a low-slung roofline that gives it its coupe-like silhouette. Unlike the X4 and X6, the X2 doesn’t have a liftback-type hatch and features a more traditional tailgate, giving it a more conventional look than its larger, more polarizing siblings. The car also appears lower to the ground like the more practical X1, which is currently BMW’s least expensive crossover and its only front-drive-based model sold in the U.S.

Like the X1, the X2 will be based on the UKL platform that also underpins the entire Mini range, meaning it will be front-drive-based. Under the hood expect the same 2.0-liter turbo-four with 228 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque and eight-speed automatic transmission as the X1. However, since the X2 will be the sportier model, it’s possible that an M Performance model, similar to the X4 M40i and the upcoming X3 M40i, to join the lineup with more power.
